Thankful

By: Lauren

Just a little poem to celebrate this Thanksgiving.

Thankful.

I am thankful
For the scar on my wrist
For my wide thumbs
For my tiny feet.

I am thankful
For the curve of my belly
For the softness in my face
For the flesh on my legs.

I am thankful
For the power in my stride
For the beating of my heart
For the love in my embrace.

I am thankful
That I am more
Than a collection of parts
More than what others say I am.

I am a person.
With scars.
With fears.
A human fearfully and wonderfully made.
A work in progress
Thankful to be

Whole.
