A Model’s Story

By now it’s common knowledge that magazine models are less than perfect, yet the majority of the public still has no idea the amount of stress these women and men go through to attain a “picture perfect” ideal. In this article by Carre Otis, the former model documents her disordered eating habits, the methods publishers use to enhance their cover model’s looks, and how she has emerged from that dark period in her life a stronger and more vibrant individual. Although we may not be posing in front of a camera wearing the latest fashion trends like Carre, Otis’s message of self acceptance rings true for all: acknowledging and embracing your uniqueness is where you find true beauty.
